How to Copy Content into a Page in Canvas

It is common for some faculty to design their courses in Google Docs or Microsoft Word, and then wish to copy and paste that content into their Canvas sites.

Here are instructions for pasting content from a document into a page in your Canvas site:

  1. Log in to MyCI.
  2. Click CI Learn, and then click on your course site in order to enter it.
  3. Locate the page you would like to edit. All pages are housed in the Pages repository, but it may be easier to locate the page you are looking for if you have already placed it in a Module.
    1. To locate the page via Pages: Click Pages and then click View all pages in order to locate your page and click on it –OR–
  1. To locate the page via Modules: Click Modules and then locate the page you are looking for and click on it.
  2. Click Edit, in the upper-right corner.
  1. Paste your content directly into the text-editor and use the formatting options in the menu bar to make adjustments to font, color, spacing, images, etc. Note: We recommend clicking the Tx button in the rich text editor to remove formatting in order to avoid formatting problems if you paste content from an external tool, like Microsoft Word.
  2. Scroll down and click Save.
