When navigating online platforms you encounter information you may want to revisit in the future. To efficiently save and locate these resources it is a good idea to establish a bookmarking or curation system to organize and collect web based content in a way that fits your organizational style.
What to Bookmark
You can bookmark any web based resource from your computer or device. Bookmarking can help you organize the resources you use the most and/or those you want to easily locate later. Consider bookmarking work/school related websites, current courses, email, or Canvas Dashboard.
Organizing Bookmarks
Most bookmark systems allow you to organize bookmarks into categories using folders or tags. This lets you sort individual bookmarks into common categories (i.e. Project Resources, Course Dashboard, Teaching Ideas, CSUCI Pages, Banking, etc.)
Browser Bookmarks
While there are paid platforms, there are several free systems you can set up using the tools in your browser (i.e. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) To learn how, read and/or watch the tutorials below that match your preferred browser.

Bookmark Apps
If you want to create bookmarks that can be viewed and shared with others, consider using bookmarking apps such as Pintrest, Google Keep, or Raindrop.io. These display more like a digital bulletin board. While some bookmarking apps have paid versions, the basic version is typically free and usually all you need for organizing and sharing your web based resources.
Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking allows you to save, organize and annotate on web based content. You can also share and annotate content with others. At CSUCI we recommend you use Hypothes.is. This tool is completely free and integrates with Canvas. As an instructor, you can create collaborative annotation assignments. As a student, you may be assigned an annotation activity using Hypothes.is, but you can also use this tool to save and annotate resources for papers, course projects, etc.)
